Tokyo Electric Power (TYO:9501) has built an AI system to ease the paperwork burden of applying to restart nuclear plants, Nikkei Asia reported on Tuesday.
Developed with Itochu's (TYO:8001) unit, Itochu Techno-Solutions, and startup Stockmark, the tool is expected to cut workload in relevant processes by 80%, with trials starting Monday and practical use targeted for around fiscal 2027, the news agency said.
The move responds to the heavy documentation and expert demands of Nuclear Regulation Authority reviews, making efficiency a pressing priority for Japanese utilities, the publication said.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
