BWX Technologies (BWXT) said Monday that Prodigy Clean Energy, Pabineau First Nation and Eel River Bar First Nation selected its BANR microreactor technology for a proposed transportable nuclear power plant planned for Belledune in New Brunswick, Canada.
The Indigenous-led project is expected to use two BANR units and the plant is expected to generate up to 50 megawatts of electricity, with operations targeted for the early 2030s.
The two reactors and related systems are expected to be principally fabricated at BWXT facilities in Ontario, the company said.
