OpenAI Says Moonshot AI Individuals Linked to Model Distillation Campaign

Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI said Wednesday that individuals associated with rival Moonshot AI played a role in a recent campaign to extract protected reasoning from its models.
"It is unclear whether all operators we observed during the relevant time period originated from a single actor," the company said in a blog post. "However, we attribute a core cluster of the activity to individuals associated with Moonshot AI, the developer of Kimi."
