Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) has progressed preparations to sell several non-core assets, including Carosue Dam, Jundee, Kanowna Belle and Bronzewing, as it faces takeover pressure from Gold Fields and activist investor Elliott Management, The Australian reported Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The company's investment bank Goldman Sachs is understood to have held informal discussions with prospective buyers ahead of any formal sale campaign, although the company faces a potential hurdle in selling assets with high carrying values without realizing losses, per the report.

Carosue Dam could attract about AU$800 million, with Ramelius Resources (ASX:RMS) previously identified as the most likely buyer, while the company is expected to retain the Super Pit, Pogo, Hemi, Thunderbox and Kalgoorlie mill, the report said.

Northern Star did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' email request for comment.
