US equity futures were higher pre-bell Thursday as traders assessed fiscal Q4 financial results from Micron Technology (MU), a bellwether for the broader semiconductor industry.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were 0.3% higher, S&P 500 futures were up 0.4%, and Nasdaq futures were 0.7% higher.
Micron Technology reported late Wednesday higher fiscal Q4 adjusted earnings and revenue, and issued fiscal Q1 guidance above consensus estimates.
President Donald Trump said he met with Korean President Lee Jae Myung and agreed on $200 billion of investments in US energy projects, including a $120 billion nuclear power program and a $50 billion liquefied natural gas project in Alaska. "We are turning Korea's investment commitments into huge construction projects, and tens of thousands of American jobs," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Nike (NKE) is expected to report its fiscal Q1 earnings after the market closes. Analysts polled by FactSet expect earnings of $0.44 per share on revenue of $11.32 billion.
Oil prices were higher, with front-month global benchmark North Sea Brent crude up 2.1% at $100.13 per barrel and US West Texas Intermediate crude adding 1.5% to $91.79 per barrel.
The weekly jobless claims bulletin is expected to show 200,000 new unemployment claims for the week ended Sept. 26, up from 197,000 in the prior week, according to estimates compiled by Bloomberg.
The final S&P Global manufacturing purchasing managers index for September, due at 9:45 am ET, is projected to be unchanged at 57.0.
The September Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index, due at 10 am ET, is projected at 55.0, up from 54.6 in the previous month. The August construction spending report is also expected at 10 am ET.
Federal Reserve Vice Chair Philip Jefferson, Governor Christopher Waller, Vice Chair Michelle Bowman, New York President John Williams, Governor Lisa Cook and Dallas President Lorie Logan are slated to speak on Thursday.
