Alphabet's (GOOGL) Google has begun rolling out its Gemini 4 Argon flagship AI model while grappling with internal skepticism over how it performs in key areas such as coding, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, citing people with direct access to the effort.

The people said the model has done well on widely used benchmarks but performs less well when employees put it to work, according to the report, they said it struggles with certain coding tasks, such as front-end design, and that its coding abilities are uneven.

Google told Bloomberg it would be inaccurate to say the model is underperforming in areas such as coding. It pointed to comments from Google DeepMind head Koray Kavukcuoglu, who said last week he was encouraged by the model's performance, the report said.

Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
