Australia's goods balance recorded a seasonally adjusted surplus of AU$495 million in August, down from a surplus of AU$1.35 billion in July, according to data published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Thursday.
Goods exports rose 3.7%, or AU$1.71 billion, to AU$47.43 billion, driven by an increase in non-monetary gold and coal, coke and briquettes.
Goods imports rose 5.8%, or AU$2.56 billion, to AU$46.94 billion, driven by an increase in automatic data processing equipment and non-monetary gold.
