Project Meridian will focus on identifying and developing weapons and systems for future conflicts, drawing on experts outside the Pentagon, Hegseth said.
The effort will be overseen by Pentagon technology chief Emil Michael and examine areas including artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, directed energy, robotics and biotechnology.
Hegseth also announced an Autonomous Warfare Command to oversee military drones and defense robotics, Bloomberg reported.
