Micron Technology Results Lift Wall Street Pre-Bell, Asia Up, Europe Off

Wall Street futures pointed moderately higher pre-bell Thursday after memory-chip maker Micron Technology (MU) issued strong fiscal FQ4 results and guidance overnight.

The bellwether Micron Technology report bolstered confidence that demand for the AI-buildout is durable, undergirding chip and AI-infrastructure stocks.

In the futures, the S&P 500 rose 0.3%, the Nasdaq inclined 0.7% and the Dow Jones was up 0.1%.

The VanEck Semiconductor fund (SMH) traded up 1% pre-bell.

Tempering sentiments, West Texas Intermediate crude oil futures traded up 1.5% to $91.77 a barrel, and yields on 10-year US Treasuries inched up to 5.31%, in pre-market action.

Asian exchanges traded mostly higher overnight on tech-sector strength, while European bourses tracked lower midday on the continent.

Accenture (ACN) traded up more than 17% pre-bell after the consulting company reported strong fiscal Q4 results and upbeat guidance, in morning hours.

In economic reports, US-based employers announced 43,281 job cuts in September, down from 52,881 in August and 54,064 last year, according to the monthly Challenger Job Cut Report.

On the economic calendar is the weekly jobless claims bulletin at 8:30 am ET, followed by the S&P Global final US manufacturing purchasing managers index release for September, at 9:45 am.

The September ISM manufacturing index logs at 10 am, along with the construction spending bulletin for August.

The weekly EIA natural gas report files at 10:30 am.

Federal Reserve Vice Chair Philip Jefferson, Governor Christopher Waller, Governor Michelle Bowman, New York President John Williams, Governor Lisa Cook and Dallas President Lorie Logan are slated to speak on Thursday.

In pre-market action, Bitcoin traded at $83,833, and spot gold commanded $4,197 an ounce.
