Singapore stocks closed lower Tuesday, tracking broader regional losses as rising oil prices and higher bond yields weighed on risk sentiment.
The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 5,696.72 and 5,740.60 throughout the day. It ended the session at 5,714.84, down 14.18 points or 0.3% compared to Monday's close.
NIO, Top Glove, CityDev down over 2%; Hong Leong Asia, Haw Par, UOL down over 1%.
In economic news, Singapore's export prices rose 1.9% year over year in August, marking the second month of growth, according to data from the Singapore Department of Statistics.
On the corporate front, shares of Ellipsiz (SGX:BIX) zoomed nearly 15% at the close as its subsidiary ISE Food Holdings broke ground on DoMo Farm, an egg farm in Lim Chu Kang.
Mapletree Industrial Trust (SGX:ME8U) closed nearly 1% lower as it agreed to divest its data center property in Minnesota to current tenant DataBank Properties for $9.81 million.
Meanwhile, Octopus (APAC) (SGX:43A) subsidiary, Octopus Distribution Networks, signed an agreement with Cellarbration Exclusive and Cronos Networks to manage the former's outlets, e-commerce and corporate events channels.
