Huntington Ingalls Industries Wins US Navy Contract for 10 Unmanned Vessels

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) won a US Navy contract to build 10 Romulus unmanned surface vessels, the company said Tuesday.
The watercraft run on an open-architecture software that lets them navigate, handle onboard payloads, and carry out tasks with minimal human input, the company said.
The underlying technology completed a 420-nautical-mile trial trip during a 28-hour period as part of a recent military evaluation, it said.
The defense contractor is collaborating with Gulf Coast build partners in Louisiana to manufacture the fleet, HII said.
