Brazilian beef shipments to China will see an additional 55% tariff after South America's largest economy reached its annual quota of 1.1 million tonnes, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing the commerce ministry.

The additional tariff adds to the standard 12% duty, raising dues to 67%, the report said.

China's commerce ministry introduced the quota at the beginning of 2026 to help protect the domestic cattle industry.
