Alphabet's (GOOGL) Google is paying about 100 digital publishers based on the value their content adds to AI products, including AI Overviews, AI Mode and Gemini, The Information reported Tuesday.
Payments vary widely, ranging from less than $1,000 for some smaller publishers to more than $1 million annually, according to people familiar with the program.
The pilot comes as publishers cite declining website traffic from AI search summaries, while Google has faced regulatory pressure and introduced an AI opt-out option in August without affecting regular search visibility, the report added.
Alphabet did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
