President Donald Trump has unveiled plans for a $15 billion steel plant in Iowa, to be built by Mesabi Metallics, multiple media outlets reported Monday.
The steel plant, which aims to start production in 2030, is expected to produce up to 10 million tons of steel per year using iron ore from Mesabi Metallics' mine in Minnesota, The Hill reported.
The first phase is estimated to produce about 7.5 million tons of steel annually and support up to 6,000 construction jobs, according to the White House.
The project will create at least 1,750 permanent jobs, the reports said, citing the White House.
