Eli Lilly (LLY) said Tuesday that a new indirect analysis showed its drug Zepbound produced 4.5% greater weight loss than Novo Nordisk's (NVO) Wegovy HD in adults with obesity.
The analysis compared data from the SURMOUNT-1 and STEP UP trials, according to the company.
Patients taking a 15-milligram dose of Zepbound achieved the 4.5% greater average weight reduction over 72 weeks, the company said.
Participants receiving a 10-milligram dose of the medication lost 3.2% more of their body weight on average compared with those on Wegovy HD, it said.
Those taking the highest Zepbound dose were more than three times as likely to achieve at least a 20% reduction in body weight, and discontinuation rates due to adverse events were comparable across both treatments, Eli Lilly said.
