Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CP) said Monday that its wholly owned subsidiary, Canadian Pacific Railway Company, will issue 1.8 billion Canadian dollars ($1.3 billion) worth of notes in four parts.

The debt offering includes CA$500 million of 4.20% notes due 2030, CA$550 million of 4.60% notes due 2033, CA$300 million of 4.90% notes due 2037 and CA$450 million of 5.40% notes due 2056, according to the company.

The company said said the notes will be guaranteed by the parent company and the offering is expected to close Oct. 6, subject to customary conditions.

Net proceeds from the offering will be used primarily to refinance the subsidiary's outstanding indebtedness and for general corporate purposes, the company said.

Until they are used for such purposes, the proceeds may be invested in short-term investment grade securities, money market funds or bank deposits, the company added.
