The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore has taken enforcement action against 45 businesses and a fake review provider following investigations into the fabrication of online reviews, according to a Wednesday statement.

The consumer protection regulator found that websites BuyReviewSG and GetReviewSG, along Reputifly, provided fake review services to over 100 businesses, with the provider using generative AI to create reviews replicating real customer experiences.

The fake review provider utilized Telegram channels to hire individuals to post content and ratings, while it also offered payments to reviewers to avoid duplicate reviews.
