Trump-Xi Summit Reinforces State of Detente Despite Few Deliverables

0336 GMT - The Trump-Xi summit was 'underwhelming' and produced few concrete deliverables, though major breakthroughs were unlikely given that the leaders are scheduled to meet again in November and December, Macquarie's Larry Hu says in a note. "The most important aspect of the summit is that it took place at all," he says. The meeting leaves Macquarie's view unchanged: The U.S. and China are in a phase of détente after years of tensions that began in 2018 and eased with the Busan agreement last October, he adds.
