Nanjing Leads Biolabs' Cancer Therapy Gets Orphan Drug Status in Japan; Shares Fall 5%

Nanjing Leads Biolabs (HKG:9887) said its cancer treatment, LBL-024, has received orphan drug status in Japan, according to a Monday bourse filing.

The biotechnology company said its treatment has now been assigned the special designation in three key markets, including the United States and Europe.

The latest move by Japanese health regulators will make the drug eligible for various incentives in the country and help in bringing the treatment faster to commercial markets.

Shares were last down nearly 5% in afternoon trading
