0116 GMT - Japanese government bond yields are higher following sharp gains in U.S. Treasury yields overnight, driven by strong U.S. economic data and expectations for the Fed's rate increases. The Fed's further tightening could accelerate the dollar's appreciation against the yen, which in turn raises speculation for the Bank of Japan's rate increases to mitigate upside risks in inflation. Investors are focusing on developments in the Middle East conflict and the U.S.-China summit meeting. The JGB yield curve is steeper. The 2-year yield is up 2 basis points at 1.920%, the 10-year yield is 3.5 basis points higher at 3.110%, and the 40-year yield is up 5.5 basis points at 4.255%.
