B2Gold's Goose mine in northern Canada is on track to hit the company's production target for the year, with a new mobile crusher commissioned and the first phase of upgrades progressing as planned.
The Canadian company said the mine in the Back River Gold District of southwestern Nunavut remains set to produce between 170,000 and 200,000 ounces of gold in 2026. The mine first began producing gold in mid-2025 and declared commercial production in October.
Output in the third quarter of this year is expected to be broadly in line with first-quarter production levels, and production in the final quarter of 2025 is anticipated to be the strongest quarter of the year, thanks to a full quarter of more tons being milled and strong mill feed grade, B2Gold said.
The new mobile crushing plant at the Goose mine was commissioned in August, and exceeded an average of 3,000 metric tons a day of ore from the middle of the month, the company said.
Fixed plant crushing throughput is expected to reach a sustained average of 3,200 tons a day beginning in October, following completion of planned work on the plant, including upgrades and repairs related to fire damage, B2Gold said.
The Vancouver, British Columbia, company has gold mines in Canada, Mali, Namibia and the Philippines. In the first half of this year, B2Gold produced 441,411 ounces of gold, up roughly 5% from a year earlier as lower-than-expected output at the Goose mine due to a fire in some areas of the crushing unit was offset by stronger-than-anticipated production at three other mines.
