Arcturus Therapeutics Holdings agreed to acquire the artificial-intelligence drug discovery company myNEO and reported interim data from a phase 2 trial of a treatment for a metabolic liver disorder.
Arcturus said the acquisition of myNEO, a company it has worked with since 2024, would improve its AI platform through proprietary intellectual property and a differentiated computational engine.
The deal is expected to close in October. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The company also said a phase 2 trial of ARCT-810, a treatment for the liver disease ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency, showed the drug was generally safe and well tolerated.
The drug reduced or maintained first morning fasting ammonia within a normal range, reduced glutamine levels, and prompted weight gain across the study's participants, Arcturus said.
Arcturus also said it was rolling out the latest version of its mRNA delivery platform, Lunar 2.0, which it said would unlock new therapeutic opportunities for indications including phenylketonuria and gout.
The company's next-generation investigational mRNA therapeutic for OTCD, ARCT-2601, utilizes the new mRNA delivery platform and has shown a similar safety profile to ARCT-810 in pre-clinical studies, the company said. It expects to integrate the new therapeutic into the ARCT-810 phase 2 trial near the end of the year.
Shares of Arcturus rose 7.5% to $14.30 in after-hours trading on Wednesday.
