Skanska said it had secured a contract valued at $84 million to deliver a data center in the U.S. state of Georgia, the latest in a string of projects to build artificial-intelligence infrastructure.
The Swedish construction group said it would build a roughly 244,730 square-foot data center with five data halls and administrative space with 48 megawatts in capacity. Work is set to begin in November and should be completed in the third quarter of 2028. The company said it signed the contract with an existing client, but it didn't provide further details.
The project is the latest in a string of contract awards as major technology companies pour hundreds of billions of dollars to build out AI infrastructure to power increasingly sophisticated large language models.
Last month, Skanska signed a contract valued at $1.2 billion to deliver four data centers stretching approximately 808,000 sq ft in a southeast location in the U.S. Days later, it announced another contract of about $99.1 million to develop a data center on the outskirts of Prague in the Czech Republic. Before the end of August, it also signed a roughly $88.4 million contract for a data center in Finland.
