Seven days after going on sale, Apple's iPhone 18 Pro series has already moved close to 1.3 million units, according to data from the blogger @RD Watch.
That figure represents roughly 115% of the iPhone 17 Pro series over the same period, and about 90% of the iPhone 17 series over the comparable stretch, according to the source.
Apple (AAPL) took a different approach this year, releasing only the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September. The base-model iPhone 18 has been pushed back to the first half of 2027.
Because of a sharp rise in memory chip prices, the starting price of this year's iPhone 18 Pro was raised to 9,999 yuan. Even so, market performance suggests the price increase has had almost no effect on the iPhone 18 Pro's reception.
Currently, the iPhone 18 Pro series officially went on sale on September 18, debuting with TSMC's 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip, featuring a 6-core CPU, a 7-core GPU, and a dual 16-core neural engine, along with a triple rear camera system all at 48 megapixels.
The main camera supports, for the first time, four levels of physical variable aperture — ƒ/1.48, ƒ/1.8, ƒ/2.8 and ƒ/4.0 — significantly boosting low-light shooting capability and depth-of-field effects. In terms of display, the iPhone 18 Pro measures 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max comes in at 6.9 inches, with both supporting ProMotion 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate and always-on display.
