National Day flag-raising ceremony at Bayi Square, the 2026 National Day fireworks gala series, and other events.

This National Day, Nanchang in Jiangxi Province sent birthday wishes to the motherland in various forms.

The Nanchang Meteorological Bureau delivered meteorological support services under a "one activity, one strategy" approach.

On September 23, the bureau held a special coordination meeting to refine job responsibilities and tighten the work chain: to support the flower basket presentation ceremony to the people's heroes, it launched special services three days in advance and rolled out hourly updated forecasts during key periods; for the Bayi Square flag-raising ceremony, it started support five days ahead, monitoring risky weather such as dense fog, strong winds, and precipitation; for the 2026 National Day fireworks gala, it launched special support one week in advance.

The 2026 National Day fireworks gala lit up the Laoguanzhou waters at the "Heart of the Gan River." The event featured a low-altitude economy and smart wearable products market, drone flight performances, and fireworks displays, placing extremely high demands on meteorological conditions such as low-altitude winds and visibility.

Since September 28, the Nanchang Meteorological Bureau updated its special service materials twice daily. Starting September 30, it coordinated with the Jiangxi Provincial General Aviation and Low-Altitude Flight Meteorological Center to conduct special consultations on drone flight conditions and assess potential risks in the low-altitude wind field, building a forecast service chain covering the entire gala cycle from early climate assessment to nowcasting.

The bureau deployed laser wind measurement radar in the core fireworks launch area, carried out intensified on-site meteorological observations, and assigned dedicated personnel to provide on-site support, precisely capturing wind directions at different altitude layers and providing measured data for fireworks and drone performances.

On October 1, meteorological support services became even more refined: starting at 12:00, weather conditions and short-term forecasts were updated hourly; during the core launch period from 19:00 to 21:00, meteorological bulletins were issued every 15 minutes, detailing key elements such as temperature, humidity, visibility, and gusts at multiple altitude levels.

In response to gusts of 5 to 6 levels along both banks of the Gan River during the drone performance period and complex airflows over the river surface, as the gala approached, the Nanchang Meteorological Bureau formulated three sets of contingency plans, scientifically grasped the takeoff window, and ensured the normal liftoff of 5,000 drones.

The forecast team stood watch throughout, monitoring weather changes and building a diversified information release system of "special service bulletins + WeChat work groups + new media matrix": on one hand, it pushed real-time meteorological bulletins to the gala's comprehensive support group; on the other hand, it sent viewing weather tips to the public through Weibo, WeChat, Douyin, and other platforms, achieving synchronous and direct information delivery to decision-makers, support teams, and the public.

At the same time, it deepened departmental coordination, shared meteorological information with cultural tourism, urban management, and other units, and formed a closed-loop collaboration model of "forecast—response—execution."

On October 1, brilliant fireworks lit up the night sky over the Gan River as scheduled, drones and fireworks bloomed in the same frame, and meteorological workers remained at their posts.
