Since July this year, under the command of the Ministry of Public Security, public security organs in Jilin have dismantled a transnational criminal gang involved in fraudulent schemes based on the so-called "unfreezing of national assets," arresting 101 suspects within the country. Meanwhile, through international law enforcement cooperation with police forces in Laos, Singapore, and Cambodia, a total of 156 additional suspects were arrested by the three countries' police. Recently, the relevant suspects have been escorted back to China in batches.
In January this year, the Jilin public security organs identified through intelligence analysis a criminal gang engaged in transnational fraudulent activities involving the "unfreezing of national assets." The gang fabricated false "national projects" such as "Revival Huijin," "Pension Action," "China Strong Agriculture," "Livelihood Security," and "China Dream," hired technical teams to develop fraudulent apps, and used online platforms to attract and develop members. They carried out long-term fraud targeting the elderly, with a large number of victims and an accumulated amount exceeding 60 billion yuan.
Under the overall planning and direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the Jilin public security organs conducted meticulous investigations and initially clarified the gang's hideout locations and personnel details. On July 28, through coordinated law enforcement operations, Lao police arrested 110 suspects in Vientiane. At the same time, the Ministry of Public Security deployed concentrated crackdowns in multiple regions, raiding 9 fraud dens and arresting 101 suspects.
On August 14, police in Singapore arrested the gang's behind-the-scenes "financiers," Hou and Nie. On September 2, Cambodian police arrested 44 suspects from the gang. To date, a total of 257 suspects have been arrested in this case, achieving a full-chain strike against the gang's financiers, core members, technical operations, and agents.
It is understood that since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Public Security has continuously deployed public security organs across the country to carry out special operations against fraudulent schemes involving the "unfreezing of national assets," solving 180 cases, dismantling 75 fraud gangs, and arresting a number of suspects. A relevant official from the Ministry of Public Security stated that public security organs will maintain a high-pressure crackdown on such fraud crimes, using heavy-handed measures and multiple strategies, continuously strengthening law enforcement cooperation and intensifying the fight, to effectively safeguard the safety of people's property and their legal rights and interests.
