HSBC Holdings PLC (OTC: HSBC) Chief Financial Officer Pam Kaur has made it clear she has no intention of stepping away from the corporate world. Speaking publicly for the first time since announcing her resignation, the 62-year-old appeared last Tuesday (September 15) at Barclays' 24th Annual Global Financial Services Conference in New York, where she addressed questions about her departure and future plans.

Kaur stated that she is not the type to "lie on the beach" and rest, adding that she would consider opportunities for other leadership roles. She expressed a desire to make meaningful contributions in her next position, signaling that her career is far from over.

HSBC first announced on September 10 that Kaur had tendered her resignation and would step down in the first half of 2027, no later than the company's annual general meeting, which is typically held in May. Having assumed the role of CFO on January 1, 2025, Kaur served for approximately two years, making her the first female CFO in HSBC's more than 160-year history.

The bank has confirmed that its board has initiated a succession process to identify her replacement, considering both internal and external candidates. Following the conclusion of her full-time duties as CFO and Executive Director, Kaur will transition to an advisory role, working with Chief Executive Georges Elhedery on strategic projects through the end of 2028.
