CUTIA-B (02487) has announced that its product CU-40102, a topical finasteride spray, has secured marketing authorization from the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, with the approved indication targeting androgenetic alopecia treatment.

This approval marks another significant milestone for CU-40102, following its prior marketing clearances from China's National Medical Products Administration and the Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

Finasteride operates as a specific type II 5-alpha reductase competitive inhibitor, suppressing the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone in the scalp, which effectively addresses androgenetic alopecia. In contrast to oral finasteride, the topical formulation of CU-40102 allows patients to apply the medication directly and precisely onto the scalp surface, potentially reducing systemic exposure compared to oral administration.
