The 48th WorldSkills Competition, recognized as the largest and most influential global event for vocational skills, is scheduled to take place in Shanghai from September 22 to 27. In preparation for this major event, the Xuhui District Intellectual Property Office has adopted a proactive approach, emphasizing early planning, swift execution, and rigorous supervision to carry out a dedicated special action plan aimed at safeguarding intellectual property rights throughout the competition period.
The initiative, which seeks to foster a robust IP protection environment for the event's success, involves several key strategies. Firstly, the office has strengthened its organizational framework by clarifying responsibilities. In June, an official notice was issued detailing the special action plan, which concentrates on protecting special symbols associated with the WorldSkills Competition. This notice outlines specific task assignments, establishes a clear timeline, and reinforces accountability to ensure all measures are effectively implemented.
Secondly, enhanced monitoring and a closed-loop handling mechanism have been put into place. The office is closely monitoring both online and offline channels for any unauthorized use of the competition's special emblems. Recently, two cases of potential misuse were identified. Both instances were promptly investigated and resolved, ensuring a seamless process from initial detection through to verification and final resolution, thereby upholding the legitimate rights of the trademark owners.
Finally, the office is committed to ongoing publicity and sustained enforcement. In accordance with regulations such as the Regulations on the Administration of Special Signs, it will continue to intensify IP protection efforts during the event. This includes conducting thorough inspections in key areas and sectors, advancing legal education on IP rights, and proactively mitigating potential risks to provide solid support for the successful hosting of the 48th WorldSkills Competition.
