As the National Day Golden Week approaches, the latest data from Trip.com shows that both inbound and outbound travel demand for Hong Kong has recorded growth.

During the Golden Week, overall bookings for visits to Hong Kong rose year-on-year, with mainland China remaining the largest source market, while regions such as Europe and Southeast Asia also recorded significant growth, making Hong Kong's visitor sources increasingly diverse.

At the same time, Hong Kong residents took advantage of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays to travel abroad, with outbound booking volumes rising more than 40% year-on-year, among which hotel bookings recorded high double-digit growth year-on-year, indicating persistently strong travel demand.

Trip.com Group Ltd (NASDAQ: TCOM) data shows the Golden Week coincided with holidays in multiple overseas markets, driving travelers from different regions to go out, and making the structure of Hong Kong's visitor sources more diversified.

In terms of flight bookings, mainland China, Taiwan region of China, South Korea, Japan and the United Kingdom ranked among the top five source markets; some longer-haul markets also recorded growth, with flight bookings to Hong Kong from Belgium, Portugal and the Netherlands rising by nearly three times or more, while those from Brazil and Malaysia more than doubled, reflecting Hong Kong's further enhanced appeal to Europe and other overseas markets.

Beyond traditional attractions, concerts also became a major highlight of travelers' Golden Week itineraries in Hong Kong.

Trip.com data shows that the two most-booked travel items during the Golden Week were both concerts.

Multiple concerts ranking among popular travel items also indicates the growing influence of concerts and large-scale events on travelers' choices.

Hong Kong was not only a popular Golden Week travel destination, but local outbound travel demand was equally active.

During the Golden Week, outbound booking volumes by Hong Kong residents grew more than 40% year-on-year, with hotel bookings recording high double-digit growth year-on-year, a very notable increase.
