Eurozone September Preliminary CPI Rises 3.8% Year-on-Year, Analysts Expected 3.7%

Eurostat today in Luxembourg released the preliminary September CPI reading for the eurozone.

The forecast range was 3.3% to 3.9%, based on projections from 42 economists. The preliminary September CPI for the eurozone rose 3.8% year-on-year, compared with a 3.2% year-on-year increase in August.

The core CPI for the eurozone, which excludes energy, food, alcohol and tobacco, rose 2.5% year-on-year in September. In August it rose 2.4% year-on-year, while the estimate was for a 2.5% increase.
