A new milestone in agricultural productivity has been achieved as a Chinese research team sets yet another national record for corn yield.

On the 22nd, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region organized experts to conduct a field yield measurement on a 1,288-mu corn demonstration plot in Xinyuan County, Yili Prefecture. The land utilized the high-density planting and precision regulation technology developed by the team led by Li Shaokun from the Institute of Crop Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The actual harvested area covered 108.48 mu, yielding an impressive 1,799.1 kilograms per mu.

This figure surpasses the previous hundred-mu demonstration record of 1,598.4 kilograms per mu by 200.7 kilograms, and exceeds the existing national highest single-crop yield record of 1,663.25 kilograms per mu by 135.85 kilograms. Notably, this achievement marks the eighth time the team has broken the national corn yield ceiling.

The repeated success not only validates the stability and replicability of the high-density planting technical system, but also offers a mature and practical solution for boosting large-scale corn yield improvements across the country.
