During the golden autumn season, more than 8,300 mu of seed corn in Yunnan Yi Town has entered the harvest period. In the fields, villagers are taking advantage of the fine weather to carry out corn harvesting work in an orderly manner.

Walking into the seed corn base in Xiaoqiao Village of Yunnan Yi Town, harvesters are shuttling between the ridges, picking ears, removing husks, bagging, weighing, and transporting, with each step proceeding in a compact and orderly fashion, creating a bustling scene in the fields. "Since entering the harvest period in late August, the base's labor demand has increased significantly, with more than two hundred people on duty at peak times in a single day," said Chen Cong, the base manager, while weighing the corn. "This year, the base signed an order contract with a seed company. The company provides seeds uniformly, technicians track and guide the entire process from sowing to pollination, and after harvest, the company purchases at a guaranteed floor price."

Through land transfer, farmers can obtain stable rent every year, and the entire industrial chain of sowing, management, harvesting, and processing has released a large number of local employment positions, enabling villagers to achieve dual income from "rent plus wages." After the corn harvest is completed, the base also utilizes the land gap period to promote "seed corn plus vegetables" compound planting, rotating in a season of short-cycle crops such as green vegetables and garlic, allowing the same field to generate multiple sources of income in a single year.

In recent years, Yunnan Yi Town has taken the seed industry as an important lever for optimizing the industrial structure and advancing rural revitalization, building a linkage mechanism of "Party branch plus enterprise plus cooperative plus farmer." Relying on full-chain services, the unified seed supply, tracking guidance, and order-based procurement are closely linked, effectively reducing planting risks and providing more secure returns for farmers, while order agriculture continues to expand and improve in quality.

This year, the town's seed corn area exceeds 8,300 mu, with an average output value of about 4,500 yuan per mu, and the expected total annual output value is 33 million yuan.
