In the early hours of September 30, E Fund Management Co., Ltd. issued an announcement declaring a fund manager change for its E Fund Quality Enterprise Three-Year Holding Period Mixed Securities Investment Fund:
Zhang Kun has officially stepped down from the role of fund manager for this fund, which will subsequently be managed solely by Zhang Qi.
Previously, on June 27, the fund announced the appointment of Zhang Qi as a co-manager. Following this adjustment, Zhang Qi will take sole charge of the fund.
Who is Zhang Qi?
According to public information, Zhang Qi holds a doctorate in engineering and joined E Fund Management in July 2017. He previously served as an investment manager and industry researcher, and began serving as a fund manager in April 2022.
Zhang Qi's investment approach focuses on technological shifts and social change, with a preference for observing industries from a holistic perspective and selecting growth-oriented companies through a top-down method. Since taking office, the returns of several funds he has managed have exceeded their performance benchmarks over the same period.
Information from within the industry indicates that Zhang Qi is an equity investment backbone cultivated internally by E Fund, with a style oriented toward fundamental research-driven investing. His independent stewardship of the E Fund Quality Enterprise Three-Year Fund is also seen as an orderly arrangement by E Fund in terms of team building and style inheritance.
Zhang Kun Remains
The relevant announcement also noted that following this fund manager change, Zhang Kun will continue to serve as Senior Managing Director of E Fund Management Co., Ltd. and a member of the Equity Investment Decision Committee, and his management of other funds remains unchanged.
Currently, the three funds Zhang Kun is involved in managing are E Fund Blue Chip Selected Mixed, E Fund Asia Selected Stock, and E Fund Quality Selected Mixed (QDII).
Among them, E Fund Blue Chip Selected is managed by Zhang Kun together with Yang Siliang and He Yicheng; E Fund Quality Selected Mixed (QDII) is co-managed by Zhang Kun and Peng Ke; and Zhang Kun manages E Fund Asia Selected Stock Fund alone.
In recent years, leading public fund managers have frequently taken the initiative to reduce their management scale and focus on core products. Earlier reports suggested that adjusting Zhang Kun's fund management model was also intended to facilitate the proactive contraction and focusing of his management energy. Presumably, this adjustment is a continuation of that approach.
