This year, Leqiu Township has earnestly implemented the deployment requirements of the "Yunnan Province New Round Three-Year Action Plan for Increasing Farmers' Income (2025-2027)." Leveraging the mature corn planting foundation among local residents, the township has innovatively explored a new development model of "three corns" — traditional grain corn for guaranteed income, silage feed corn for increased efficiency, and fruit corn for quality improvement — effectively addressing the development challenges of scattered mountain agriculture, weak production capacity, and low efficiency, while enhancing the stability of farmers' income from corn cultivation.
The township has always strictly upheld the bottom line of food security, insisting on both stabilizing grain production and increasing income. It has not blindly reduced the area of traditional corn cultivation, actively promoted high-yield superior varieties and standardized planting techniques, and continuously improved the stable production capacity of traditional corn. Currently, the township's traditional corn planting area reaches 15,500 mu, with ordinary commercial corn yield stable at around 800 jin per mu. Calculated at an average market price of 1.3 yuan per jin, the output value per mu can reach over one thousand yuan. Through large-scale traditional grain corn cultivation, stable baseline income is provided for farmers, the bottom line of food security is firmly safeguarded, and a solid industrial foundation is laid for the transformation and development of specialty industries such as silage corn and fruit corn.
The township has extended the industrial chain and explored silage feed corn cultivation to achieve doubled efficiency. Leveraging the development advantages of surrounding large-scale livestock farming, it has proactively partnered with Yunnan Mingyu Modern Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., promoting an order-based silage corn planting model, revitalizing previously discarded corn stalk resources, and turning waste into treasure. Currently, the township's silage feed corn planting area reaches 7,000 mu. The enterprise purchases whole-plant corn at a unified rate of 430 yuan per ton, with daily outbound shipments reaching 400 to 500 tons during the harvest period. Farmers can sell corn with cobs and stalks together, achieving an average income increase of over 2,000 yuan per mu compared to selling grain alone. This year, the township is expected to collect and store 15,000 tons of silage feed, which can drive the development of over 300 farming households, with an average household income increase of approximately 4,000 yuan. Through the circular development model of planting and breeding, it properly resolves the problem of stalk disposal, protects the rural ecological environment, effectively diversifies agricultural market risks, and achieves a win-win outcome for both ecological and economic benefits.
The township has also trial-planted fruit corn to increase farmers' income through multiple channels. Targeting the high-end fresh produce market, it has introduced Fenghengye Planting Co., Ltd. to build a standardized fruit corn demonstration base, implementing scientific dense planting and refined field management. Currently, the township's fruit corn planting area reaches 100 mu, with the base's fruit corn yield reaching 1,400 kilograms per mu. Adopting an order-based purchasing model, the purchase price reaches 4.5 yuan per kilogram, with the maximum output value per mu reaching 6,300 yuan. The base adopts an "enterprise + base + farmer" operating model, allowing farmers to simultaneously obtain land transfer rent and nearby employment wages, achieving dual income increases.
