On 1 October 2026, Cathay Pacific Airways Limited will implement a leadership transition with two key board changes. Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Rebecca Jane Sharpe will step down, while Gavin John March, aged 49, will assume the dual roles of Executive Director and CFO.
Sharpe, who has served as CFO since January 2021 and has been with the Swire group since 2008, is retiring early to focus on personal commitments. She departs with the Board’s formal appreciation for her contributions across the group’s aviation and shipping divisions in Hong Kong, Mainland China and Singapore.
Incoming CFO Gavin March currently serves as director and finance director of Swire Bulk Holdings Pte. Ltd. and previously held senior finance positions at Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited and Hong Kong Aero Engine Services Limited. A chartered management accountant (ACMA, CGMA), March joined the Swire group in 2020 and has worked in Hong Kong, the United States and Singapore.
Under the company’s Articles of Association, March will serve on the Board until Cathay Pacific’s 2027 annual general meeting, at which he will be eligible for election and thereafter for re-election every three years. His service contract specifies an annual salary and allowances totaling HK$4.05 million, eligibility for performance-related discretionary bonuses, and participation in provident fund benefits. He will receive no separate director’s fee from Cathay Pacific.
March holds no shares or underlying shares in Cathay Pacific and has no relationships with the company’s directors, senior management, or substantial shareholders, aside from being an employee of the Swire group.
As of 30 September 2026, Cathay Pacific’s Board comprises Executive Directors Guy Bradley (Chair), Ronald Lam, Lavinia Lau, Alexander McGowan and Rebecca Sharpe; Non-Executive Directors Liu Tiexiang (Deputy Chair), Gordon McCallum, Martin Murray, Qu Guangji, Merlin Swire, Augustus Tang and Xiao Feng; and Independent Non-Executive Directors Bernard Chan, Lily Cheng, Christoph Mueller and Wang Xiao Bin.
