Tianjin's commerce and finance authorities have recently published the public notice for the first batch of 2026 pilot city construction projects under the modern commercial circulation initiative, with a total of 191 proposed projects collected for review.
Among the selected projects are new store openings and renovation efforts across the city. Notable supermarket initiatives include a new JD Seven Fresh store at the Kerry Parkside shopping center, as well as construction and upgrades for Xiaoxiang Supermarket's pre-positioned warehouses.
Renovation plans are also in place for multiple Wumart locations, including the new retail Zhongbei store and Yangliuqing store, along with AI-driven new retail transformations for its Shidai, Beichen, and Jinghai outlets.
Other major retail upgrades involve Freshippo's renovation projects, a restructuring of Metro's Tianjin Hongqiao store, equipment and facility improvements for China Resources Vanguard outlets, and an upgrade plan covering four store locations for Yonghui Superstores in Tianjin.
Several wet market enhancement projects are also featured, including the China (Tianjin) Lele Market at Sanshui Road, the Yiwangjia Market in Hebei District, and the Jinlei Market's improved convenience facilities. Additionally, cold storage upgrades at the Jinzhonghe Vegetable Trade Center wholesale market and a comprehensive renovation of the Dafuyuan Market are part of the approved list.
