Recently, multiple consumers have complained that Baoshifu's extra-long egg tarts are entirely crust with no custard filling, calling the purchase a "total letdown."

In response to the widespread complaints about insufficient custard filling, on September 29, Baoshifu's official customer service stated that the brand has already taken note of the situation. "We will immediately relay this to the managers of each store and work on making improvements," the representative said. They added that consumers who purchase extra-long egg tarts with very little custard can apply for a refund through the store or customer service, and "we will process it as quickly as possible."

On the same day, employees at multiple Baoshifu locations all stated that if consumers purchase extra-long egg tarts with insufficient custard and provide feedback, the store has dedicated after-sales staff to handle refunds. One employee noted, "The egg tarts come out batch by batch, and after production, a master conducts quality control checks. The front desk also inspects them again before boxing them up."

Also on the same day, a consumer who had previously complained about Baoshifu's extra-long egg tart having "too little custard" said they had already received a refund from Baoshifu.

Public information shows that Baoshifu's extra-long egg tart launched on September 20 and measures approximately 60 centimeters in length. Data from Douyin merchants shows that Baoshifu's extra-long egg tart retails for 18.9 yuan each, and as of September 28, over 700,000 units of the product had been sold. Many consumers have posted photos of their purchased Baoshifu extra-long egg tarts on social media, finding them "cheap, fun, and suitable for gifting." However, quite a few consumers have complained that upon biting into the egg tart, the interior is largely a hollow, flaky crust structure with only a thin layer of filling. One consumer remarked that after peeling open Baoshifu's extra-long egg tart, almost nothing but crust remained, calling it "dry, hard to eat, and a waste of money."

The extra-long egg tart was a breakout product in the baking sector in September 2026. Platform data shows that as of September 19, the "extra-long egg tart" topic had accumulated over 1 billion impressions on trending lists, group-buying cumulative paid GMV exceeded 100 million yuan, and consumer search frequency for the product reached 18.8 million in the past 7 days.
