The Hangzhou Airport high-speed rail project starts from Tongxiang Station, passes through Tongxiang City and Haining City in Jiaxing City, crosses the Qiantang River and then heads south, passing through Qiantang District and Xiaoshan District in Hangzhou City, and Keqiao District in Shaoxing City, finally arriving at Shaoxing North Station.
The newly built main line is about 72 kilometers long, of which the Tongxiang to Qiantang section is about 34 kilometers with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour; the Qiantang to Shaoxing section is about 38 kilometers with a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour; and a connecting line from Hangzhou South Station to Xiaoshan Airport Station is about 13 kilometers long with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour.
The planned construction period of the project is 4 years.
The entire line has stations including Tongxiang, Haining Guanchao, Qiantang, Xiaoshan Airport, and Shaoxing North, among which Haining Guanchao, Qiantang, and Xiaoshan Airport are newly built stations.
The new Shanghai to Hangzhou high-speed rail project is expected to start construction on the entire line within 2026.
The initial phase of the project began construction in September 2025, with a total construction period of 4 years, meaning it is expected to be completed in 2029.
The Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed rail is located in southern Shanghai and northern Zhejiang Province. The line starts in the east at the under-construction Shanghai East Station of the Oriental Hub, uses the second phase of the Shanghai-Suqiao-Nantong Railway to Siduan Station, connects with the under-construction Nantong-Ningbo high-speed rail via Jiaxing South Station in the Jiaxing area, connects with the under-construction Hangzhou Airport high-speed rail via Tongxiang Station, and ends at Hangzhou West Station.
The newly built main line is about 197 kilometers long (about 54 kilometers in the Shanghai section and about 143 kilometers in the Zhejiang section), with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
The entire line has a total of 9 stations, including 4 newly built stations at Fengxian, Shanghai Jinshan, Pinghu City, and Linping North, 4 expanded and renovated stations at Siduan, Jiaxing South, Tongxiang, and Hangzhou West, and 1 utilized station at Shanghai East.
