Delivery Hero has decided to cancel the planned departure of its co-founder Niklas Oestberg from the chief executive role, a change driven by Uber's $14.8 billion acquisition offer.

The German food delivery company had unveiled a leadership succession plan in May this year, under which Oestberg was originally scheduled to step down as CEO in March next year.

However, the company said that due to significant changes in the external situation, Oestberg will remain in the chief executive position.

Earlier this month, Delivery Hero expressed support for Uber's $14.8 billion acquisition offer and recommended that shareholders accept the deal.

Oestberg's employment contract runs until April 30, 2029.
