Urumqi Tianshan International Airport has successfully completed its aviation support work for the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
During the holiday period, the airport handled a total of 2,030 aircraft takeoffs and landings, averaging 677 per day. Passenger throughput reached 290,300, with an average daily volume of 96,800 passengers, representing year-on-year increases of 13.09% and 1.37% respectively compared with the daily production figures during the 2025 Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
The first day of the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday marked the peak for both takeoffs and landings as well as passenger flow, with 714 flights handled and 104,000 passengers transported that day. Passenger travel was mainly for family visits and short-distance autumn tourism within Xinjiang. Popular outbound routes were concentrated in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi'an, and Guangzhou, while destinations within Xinjiang including Kashgar, Hotan, Yining, Aksu, and Altay saw high demand.
Multiple measures and coordinated efforts weave a tight safety net for the holiday
The Mid-Autumn Festival holiday brought dense passenger flow and volatile autumn weather, creating overlapping dual challenges. Urumqi Airport adhered to the principle of safety first and prevention foremost, implementing full-domain control and moving checkpoints forward, relying on multi-unit coordination and full-chain coverage to build a solid safety barrier for passenger travel.
Comprehensive inspections eliminated hidden dangers. A full-coverage special safety inspection was carried out before the holiday, focusing on key positions, critical areas, and core operational links. The airport improved its closed-loop hazard rectification mechanism, refined various emergency response plans, strictly enforced duty rosters, and resolved operational risks at the source.
Joint operations and coordination improved efficiency. Relying on the collaborative platform of the Operations Management Committee and fully leveraging the A-CDM system, the airport exercised full-chain dynamic control over flight ground support, pushback, taxiing, and takeoff. It intervened immediately and coordinated responses for flights at risk of delay, continuously improving on-time departure performance.
Smart systems provided strong support. The intelligent stand pre-allocation system used smart algorithms to precisely match flights with boarding bridge resources, steadily increasing the close-in stand bridge usage rate and making boarding more convenient for passengers. The smart baggage system achieved precise sorting and full-process traceability. Unmanned baggage tractors and intelligent robotic arms worked in coordination, making baggage handling more stable, faster, and more accurate.
Genuine service warms the journey, thoughtful measures ease difficulties
Relying on the themed activity of improving civil aviation service quality and benefiting the people, Urumqi Airport focused on the urgent difficulties and concerns of passenger travel, continuously rolling out multiple convenient service measures to make travel more worry-free and smoother.
Transfer services were further accelerated. The "Nine Free and Nine Enjoy" transfer service product continued to provide eligible transfer passengers with free accommodation, meals, and rest areas. The airport coordinated with 46 airports inside and outside Xinjiang to launch cross-airline "one ticket to the end, baggage through-check" service, and extended the international "one ticket to the end" service to multiple routes including Moscow and Almaty, allowing transfer passengers to enjoy seamless supervision and worry-free customs clearance.
Peak-period support became more从容. The airport fully promoted "one ID, one face, one machine" touchless customs clearance. The fully domestically developed departure system operated efficiently, with manual check-in and facial recognition boarding proceeding in an orderly manner. Intelligent security channels integrated AI image judgment, millimeter-wave security screening, and smart tray return technology, making passenger screening faster and smoother. Convenient services such as "boarding in a quarter hour" and the "Urumqi-Beijing Express Line" were implemented effectively, ensuring smooth and worry-free passenger travel.
Humanistic care was delivered with warmth. The "Tianshan Airport" mini-program aggregated 46 functions including check-in and seat selection, temporary flight certificates, indoor navigation, and baggage inquiry, allowing passengers to navigate the airport with just one mobile phone. Multilingual intelligent inquiry and intelligent customer service cloud call systems were launched simultaneously, allowing passengers of all ethnic groups and Chinese and foreign guests to enjoy genuine service. The "ten little more" warm measures were implemented, with passenger satisfaction serving as the core measure of service quality and effectiveness.
