Ministry of Civil Affairs Set to Draft Elderly Care Service Legislation During the 15th Five-Year Plan Period

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, the Ministry of Civil Affairs will push forward the revision of the law on the protection of the rights and interests of the elderly, adapting the safeguard system to the times to truly enhance the well-being of senior citizens, according to Li Changguan, the Minister of Civil Affairs, at a press conference held on September 23.

The minister also announced plans to draft a dedicated law on elderly care services, aiming to establish a comprehensive service system that is tiered and categorized, universally accessible, spanning urban and rural areas, and sustainable in its development.

These initiatives were unveiled at the series press conference themed "Embarking on the 15th Five-Year Plan," where Li detailed the ministry's strategic focus on improving the legal framework and service infrastructure to meet the growing needs of China's aging population.
